🎨 Visual Art

Paisley Marten Studio is the visual-art and surface-design branch of my creative work.

I create photography, digital artwork, painting, and repeating-pattern designs shaped by texture, movement, tonal balance, and emotional restraint. My work ranges from quiet fine-art imagery to decorative designs created for fabric, wallpaper, home décor, and selected merchandise.

Although music and personal storytelling are now my primary creative focus, I continue to maintain my visual-art collections and occasionally add new work when inspiration leads me there.

My work generally favors quiet gravity over spectacle, suggestion over explanation, and psychological presence over explicit narrative. I am drawn to images that do not demand attention but reward sustained looking.

Paisley Marten Studio also honors my Irish maternal heritage and the artistic inheritance present within my biological family history. My biological mother was a gallery artist and regionally recognized wildlife painter. Documented family and DNA research also connects my lineage to artists and arts figures including Agnes Martin, Alfred H. Barr Jr., and Jackson Pollock.

I do not present those connections as status or mythology. To me, they represent inherited standards: seriousness of practice, restraint, discipline, and the expectation that the work must ultimately stand on its own.

My influences are methodological as much as stylistic. They include Frida Kahlo, Evelyn De Morgan, Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, Odilon Redon, Richard Diebenkorn, Vilhelm Hammershøi, Fernand Khnopff, Claude Monet, and James McNeill Whistler.

For me, visual art is another form of close attention: a way of observing carefully, withholding excess, and allowing an image to carry what words might overstate.
